So far feels like this has successfully met my goals of: 1) produced more works from life, 2) have painted some things that were on my wish list to paint from my reference photos, 3) have gotten some exposure on previously produced works, and 4) met some very talented artists.
While my husband now feels I don't do anything else but stay in the art space (not sure what that means - I have been behaving maybe?) I feel good about the effort that has gone into this challenge. I have created the good, the bad and the ugly. Walked away from some failures and come back swinging again to face them down.
Got all inspired, as yesterday (I came out of the art space) and we went to the Booth Museum of Western Art. Talk about a way to get inspired. All those guys who were illustrators, turned fine artists and self taught cowboys who turned to art; wow there was awesome stuff from early 1930s, to recent. Mostly oils, two Andy Warhol's, a few pastels (saw a Harley Brown in real life - was excited and even Paul noticed and said "Harley Brown, did you take a picture" so see he does understand even though he rags on me) and a couple of colored pencil works that just took my breath away. Two best compliments of the day from hubby was that my Indian Girl was comparable to someone who was judged into the Booth's guild and art show, and that "when I got in the museum he thought I really was an artist" (Hmmm do you think that was a compliment?)
Anyway two more weeks to see what else I can pull out of the hat. Am going to put some of my finished pieces in just to gauge interest and any feedback. Might even get brave enough to post some of my pieces on Pinterest 30 in 30 challenge page. You can visit the board here: http://www.pinterest.com/
Thanks all for stopping by and to those special few for being so supportive of this venture, you are so much appreciated. Hope you have a great painting week.
