The Flower Garden impressionistic figurative garden

The Flower Garden
Acrylic
8"x10"

It is always interesting to me how I get sidetracked so frequently,  but I guess that is the fun of it.  The discipline has gone far, far away and now I am ruled by "what I want tos" instead.  The is a fun piece I tried in a more impressionistic way.  Loosely based off an original painting done in 1912 by Frederic Frieseke.  However the girl, hat and the dress are my additions.  I really love the drape of the fabric in this piece and how it adds a sense of movement.

Thanks much for stopping by.

There's so much going on here that I like. I love the grass... swirly and Van Gogh-like... I love that the girl's dress is white or ivory so she kind of shares the center stage with her surroundings... I love the blotchy colors in the background that make me believe there are flower bushes behind her.

Lovely, delightful work! I love her pose, the movement as you mentioned. The grasses, and the flower bushes behind her. Is there anything else? Oh well the light is a given, LOVE. How did you create such a brilliant light, in a piece with muted tones. Not a question for you. Amazement from me. LOL. yes this is a favorite, and yes I think you should do more of these. LOL. Have fun with your want tos. I know we will enjoy seeing them :)

You know I am sure it wasn't an easier time, but it does seem that things had more simplicity in that time frame. Life wasn't such a frantic pace and people did really stop and smell the roses.

Thanks Jane, I like the look of the piece and the looser strokes. Hoping I can pull it together and get a few more of these.

Oh how exciting your comment is on the light. Got to try to figure out why that is as it certainly is a happy accident.
