Sort of feeling off today, big flu here and everyone seems to have some version of it. Felt ok to do my 3.5 mile run this morning, but this afternoon just kind of lethargic. Well really busy week so not much done during the week so this is today's work. Added portions of the head, still more ear work on the left ear and pretty much got the shoulder based in so I can stare at it for a while and try to figure out the darker hair parts for the shadows that show the musculature. Next do the chest and top turn of the front leg tomorrow and maybe the top of the other leg, that would frame the face very nicely and then could determine whether to finish it or complete the paws/legs before the face. Added more green to the eyes. Just not satisfied with them, probably have tinkered around on them too much and might have to scratch some layers off to see if I can recapture what it is I want.
Bold woman's portrait
Bold Ok, for today's portrait I went out of the box and decided to try a different look and approach. This is on watercolor paper, I applied a layer of paper collate over it (you can see that some of it started lifting - so got to use more medium to glue it next time) Anyway then I tried to leave part of that under collage showing, even in the face. Went back in and applied several more light lawyers of transparent and opaque paint and then put in the hair using my dagger bus. Gosh that brush makes hair so much easier While this might not the best example what are your thoughts to taking portraits this more dynamic direction? Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

(It is hard to understand what has happened without midtone neighbors ... It could be just a paper mask ,medium gray, with the shape of the eyes cut out ...
I do not understand colored pencils, but the problem to see the work done, over the white, is typical of watercolor ...)
See you soon, hug, Rita.
I think the eyes are lovely...maybe get the rest of the face done and then see how the eyes fit in? Looking forward to seeing your next post.
