Back trying another landscape.  I saw Sandie Bell put this on PMP last week and knew that I just had to give it a try.  All those wonderful and colorful greens - colors I don't usually have much cause to use.  Plus the majesty of this place, this is part of her lake district series.
This is painted on a bright pinky-purple Artagain, yes, I said pink.  It was the closest thing I had to red to help make the greens pop and you can see it shining through in several places, especially in the lighter clouds.    The majority of this painting is done with pan pastels and the final touches are with traditional sticks and a dark green colored pencil to help define the trees a bit more.
If this keeps up I might actually start to like landscapes.  But seriously, when you see someone capture nature in all its splendid beauty how can you not love it.  Sandie does such a wonderful job shooting these landscapes you just got to give it a try.

This is really lovely!!! I love the subtle changes in color in the hills and grasses. I think the pink was a good choice. Like red it did make the greens pop. Be careful...you may become addicted to landscapes.

Looks good Nelvia. My art club is hosting a workshop this month with a local pastel artist Carol Schloss - http://www.carolschlosspastels.com/artist.html.Although the workshop is only on light and each of us is working in our own medium, she brought in some of her work. I really admire those of you who work with pastel which I consider on of the hardest media to work with - good going girl!

DAY 19 Noise

Noise I have noticed, now that we live out of the hard core suburbia, how much we get quiet.  I mean actual quiet, no kids, no dogs, not cars, not motorcycles, no sirens, etc. etc.  How many waves, noise carrying waves, go through our bodies every day.   Phone, radio, tv, fiber optics, microwave, etc. etc.   Can that really be good for us? Anyway, I never know what I am going to get and this was a pretty quick one since I had a big time work day, for me.   But I got some really clean windows - am really ready for Fall, wish the temperature could understand how ready I really am for Fall!!. Nicolae's Giraffe Over the years we have decided the places we like to visit and have gone back multiple times.   In this day and age I think it is uncommon that in a hotel environment the workers would have been there 10-35 years.  So friendships develop.   Each of the people we have encountered have made our stays extra special in a variety of ways.   One of the ladies that works the check in desk had a baby last year.   Since we were unable to go in November we just saw her when we were in DC.   He is now 14 months, and in love with giraffes.  She has a yellow and gray nursery decor and I wanted to do a giraffe.   Wasn't sure if it should be the "kiddie" kind, but thought he might outgrow it.   So I decided to do one semi realistic so that he wouldn't outgrow it right away.  Aren't they just the strangest looking animal?
