Alexander is a man of few words and bold strokes, so I am going to be paraphrasing a lot of this interview. Alexander, you may need to defend yourself if I mess it up!! Alexander is right now primarily working in figurative drawing. He has taken advantage of attending workshops and groups where they are doing lot of drawing from life. He is also drawing multiples of similar pictures, watching the improvement as he becomes more familiar with the subject. He usually draws and paints with a very bold line and has done some wonderful abstract pieces as well. He has a wonderful sense of humor and can be depended upon to tell you the unvarnished truth.
Hope you enjoyed meeting Alexander and thanks for stopping by.
1). How long have you been doing art - how did,you get started
I started painting about 3 1/2 years ago, after seeing "Garden of Love" by David Nicholson in an exhibition about Lust and Death in Austria. (I have included only two of the many self portraits he has done (I always admire someone who does self portraits - many of the great master did self portraits throughout their lifetime))2). What has been the biggest surprise or thrill you have had because of your artwork
The immediate physical and psychological satisfaction if you did the RIGHT stroke.
3). What is your favorite technique?
Hard to say, I draw with pencil and charcoal and chalk (latter rather rarely), Mainly I paint with acrylics. I have not started oil yet, since I feel very comfortable with good quality acrylics (meaning they cost the same as oil), and I am a bit shy to start oil, for whatever reason.
4). What do you want to accomplish in the next 3 years with your art
To get out as much satisfaction as possible and the space next to Mona Lisa of this Italian guy da Vinci :)
5). Do you participate in social media to promote your art, if any tips for others to try
Yes, blogspot and a little bit in tumblr. Blogspot is good, but you have to be active, and you can find wonderful spiritual friends in your hobby there. A real must to be there nowadays.
6). Other blogs you follow and would recommend to check out
The ones I follow you can see on www.riccimer.blogspot.com
7). Links to your blog, facebook page and website

I think that Alexander is going to be somewhat disappointed that I didn't feature a lot of his drawings. He does a lot of figurative work, so note that there are a lot of nudes on his blog. It is fun to join him on his journey and see the world through his eyes.Hope you enjoyed meeting Alexander and thanks for stopping by.
